In this site, we would like to tell to you about foundation of the orphanage "Berkat", about its life, activity and certainly about actual problems.
Local Nazran Public Organization "Berkat" is à ðublic organization founded and registered in Nazran city, Ingush Republic, Russia. The organization began with the foundation of the orphanage in the region of Grozny city because the most important problem has been organization of life of orphans. Ðåîðle engaged in this organization come from Grozny city, Chechen Republic. The problem of children having lost parents or one of them is actual in Chechen Republic now. There are a lot of them there, especially in Grozny. These children are abandoned to survive themselves in the conditions of almost completely destroyed town with insufficient central natural gas and water supply and absence of electricity. The orphans having luckily survived in this "anti-operation" are very exhausted and frightened. Many of them have watched shooting of their parents by warrior-liberators during their special operations. Our organization is aimed on:
rehabilitation of children having lost one or both parents, organization for them of medical care, feeding four times daily, the leisure, various cultural activities, school education. On October 1, 2000, a school class, where children of different age (from 6 to 12 years old) has been opened. At the moment, there are 26 pupils in the class. All of the children, especially the elder of them, due to different reasons did not go to school before at all.
On this way, we are doing our best ?w the ðèôäòå, [however, we are in need of the many kind of books, posters and other special materials. In spite of the lodging deficiency in Grozny, the orphanage "Berkat" has been settled in two private houses and takes care of 50 children. One house is for the children of preschool age (3-7 years old); the other is for children of school age (7-12 years old). Team of physicians serves our orphanage. Weekly, they provide the medical examination of children including treatment of a pediculosis. The children are exhausted and need plenty of medicines. The drugs, they are prescribed with, are very expensive or not available in Chechen and Ingush Republics. All the children require a special feeding regimen, rich of vitamins and calories, which can be hardly provided in Grozny where even milk and cottage cheese is a major problem. Even availability of clean water became is catastrophically limited now urgently requiring water filters. The water, which we get by the use of small pumps from the ground, is contaminated with oil products and not suitable for drinking. We are asking for help all organizations capable of dealing with the problem, which is critical for the children's health.
The cold season has begun, but natural supply is so weak and unstable that is inadequate to run the heating system. The means the necessity to store firewood and coal, material that are unavailable in Grozny and in great demand among refugees in ingush Republic. Eventually, our children are in great need of warm clothes and footwear.
From the very beginning, our organization "Berkat" was receiving substantial support in the process of our foundation from international religious organization "Charitus-Austna", Vienna. Thanks to their help have we made a repair of destroyed houses, have installed heating system, water pumps, electric generator, and are renting transport service for the children. Winter is coming requiring us to provide the children with food products, clothes, and fuel. Since a few relatives of our children are mainly unemployed, we have to solve the problems ourselves.
This is why we are asking for help all the sponsors and charitable organizations, and citizens. We will be very grateful, indeed, if you respond to our request.
Many institutions attended inauguration of the orphanage "Berkat" including local administrative, public and humanitarian organizations as well as official representatives from the United Nations, Valdikavkaz and Nazran. This humanitarian action was first to settle life of the orphans and families requiring support. We do not make any differences on the basis of nationality. There are Russians, Chechens, Ingushs, Tartars, and Armenians at our orphanage - all of them are children of the citizens of the Chechen Republic, citizens of Russia. All these children will always proudly speak about motherland, because they were born there, and many from them (who are older) remember it as beautiful and blooming. There are still many more orphans in the city to be taken care of. They need new lodging locations and resources for the their repair. The Chechen officials are not able to support them now.
This is why we are asking everybody: Please, help Chechen children.
